Ridiculous cuteness: 7 Great Pyrenees mix puppies need fosters

A passel of passed-out puppies

Meet the A-Team. There are seven of these puppies in the Nashville area: Ariel, Arthur, Alice, Abigail, Annabel, Albert and Astrid. They are 10 weeks old now and they are in the process of being vetted. They need foster homes immediately in the middle Tennessee area for the next 10 days. These two need foster homes today:

Abigail needs a foster home

Astrid also needs a foster home

Unbelievably beautiful – Ella the Belgian Turveren/German Shepherd mix

Rock-star gorgeous and so very sweet, too.

We don’t often see big fluffies this unusual and this beautiful. Ella is three years old, 100 + pounds and just an absolutely stunning Belgian Turveren/German Shepherd mix. She rides well in the car, walks well on a leash, is great with kids, she kissed a dog she had never met on the nose on first sight and we might just trust her to guard a chocolate cream pie. This dog will make someone an outstanding pet.

Jeremiah and Jasper the lethal white aussie puppies need a home

Jeremiah needs a special home

Jasper needs a special home too

Meet Jeremiah and Jasper, two very special honorary Big Fluffy dogs. They are 14 week old “lethal white” Australian shepherds. Their Mom is a blue merle aussie and she was apparently bred to another blue merle aussie. We agreed to take her from the shelter not realizing she was pregnant.  It was quickly apparent that she was late term so we let her have the puppies. The result is that two of the nine puppies are obviously what is frequently called lethal white with significant vision and hearing deficits.  Jeremiah and Jasper are very social, very friendly puppies. They are partially to totally deaf and they seem to have limited vision. These boys need a special home.  If you are interested in adopting either of them, please email jean@bigfluffydogs.com for more details.

Wally the scruffy mutt mix needs a home

Wally needs a home

Wally is a 4 year old male scruffy. His rescue is a wonderful group called Roane County Humane Society. However, he has been in foster for a year and still has no one interested in him and they have asked us to make him an honorary big fluffy. Wally is a sweet, friendly dog of medium size and indeterminate ancestry. He will make someone a wonderful pet. Let us know if you’re interested in adopting him.

Butterscotch is ready to go home

Butterscotch is incredibly cute

Meet Butterscotch. She is an 18 month old female Great Pyrenees/golden retriever/? mix. She is on the small side at 60 pounds and we do not expect her to get much bigger. She loves everyone and everything and is just an all-around great dog.

Shiloh the Great Dane/lab is ready for a home

Shiloh is looking for a forever home

Shiloh is a 2 year old Great Dane/lab mix. His owners gave him up because he was “too big”. He is an awesome boy and good with kids, cats and other dogs.

Ridiculous cuteness: Becca the lab Great Pyrenees mix puppy

Adorable is the proper adjective

Meet Becca. She is just shy of nine weeks old, 10 pounds, and a drop dead gorgeous Great Pyrenees/yellow lab mix puppy. Social, outgoing and cute. She is adoptable and ready for a home. She is in New England.

Trixie the Saint Bernard needs a foster or adoptive home

Trixie needs a home

Trixie is a 6 year old female Saint Bernard. Trixie lost her home because she likes to chase cats.  Trixie is an active girl who likes to go for long walks, but will snuggle with you all night long if you’ll sit still long enough. She has excellent indoor manners and she is very social with people. She would be best as an only dog. She is an absolutely wonderful dog for those who work and need a housetrained and calm companion.

Sneak preview: Atlas, the Great Dane puppy

Not a fabulous picture, but look at those paws....

Meet Atlas. He is one of two 8 week old Great Dane puppies we have. They are ready to go.

Fiona the Great Pyrenees is ready for her home

Fiona is ready for a home

Fiona is a 2 year old female Great Pyrenees. She is sweet, quirky and wonderful. She is exceptionally well-trained and obedient. She is looking for a home with  people who want a lazy, easy going girl. She has impeccable indoor manners. She would be wonderful for someone wanting an only dog as she is content to be by herself, although she is fine with other dogs.  This is an outstanding dog for someone who wants a big, beautiful Pyr.

A pair of non-fluffies needs our help

UPDATE: These boys were rescued on April 8, 2011. Thanks to everyone who worked to help save them.

Joey and Rascal are on death row

Meet Joey and Rascal, two young purebred American Bulldog puppies weighing not quite 65 pounds. These two boys are not yet a year old and are back in the slammer at the Rutherford County TN PAWS shelter. Their crime: scaling fences.  Their owners, who despite working at home, just could not make time to walk them or take them to the dog park and turned them in to a high kill shelter so “they could be adopted by someone with more time.” I won’t say what I really think of their former owners (hint: rhymes with ‘plum’ and ‘bass’), but the fact is these sweet, beautiful boys will die without someone’s intervention. There are no American Bulldog rescues in the area and they are a long way from safety. Big Fluffy Dog Rescue wants to see these boys make it out to a safe and loving home and will take them on IF we can find either a responsible rescue or a foster home that can handle these dogs. Please help us help these dogs by spreading the word that they must have a home. Time is short.  We thank you for helping these honorary big fluffies.

Casper needs a foster home to save his life

Casper is sitting in a kill shelter

Meet Casper. This is a very sweet, very friendly and quite large 18 month old Great Pyrenees. He was turned in by his owners for allergies. The shelter he is in works hard to save their dogs, but it is a high kill shelter. We are out of foster room and funds to board dogs at the moment. If you would like to help by fostering, please let us know. Time is short. He is in middle Tennessee.

Ridiculous cuteness: Rumplemints reposted

Molly the senior shepherd mix is long overdue for a home of her own

Molly needs a retirement home of her own

Molly is a sad case. She was rescued from the catastrophic Nashville floods in May of 2010. She was probably eight when we got her and she had been tied to a doghouse and left to fend for herself in the rising floodwaters. This poor girl had been bred repeatedly because her owners did not care enough to either fix her or bring her in when she went into heat and the vet estimates she had at least six litters of puppies before we got her, and possibly more. Molly was in terrible condition when we got her. She was underweight, malnourished, and just defeated in spirit. She was also heartworm positive. With time, attention and lots of care, she’s a happy senior these days, although she loves to give sad looks to the camera. Molly weighs in at a slightly chunky 60 pounds and her legs are on the stumpy side. We think she is a shepherd mixed with something with short legs, like maybe corgi, basset or possibly something like a cattle dog or even min pin. Molly is fostered with multiple dogs and cats and is just a sweetheart. She has excellent indoor manners and is quite spry at going on nine years old. She deserves a place of great happiness to spend her golden years after all she has endured. Molly is an honorary big fluffy dog and we are looking for the family who will love an old, black non-descript dog with a huge heart.

Ridiculous cuteness: David the aussie/Great Pyrenees puppy

And puppy season is upon us. David is an adoptable 20 week old aussie/Great Pyrenees puppy. Not overly large, he’ll weigh in around 65 as an adult. He is adorable.
