Meet Jeremiah and Jasper, two very special honorary Big Fluffy dogs. They are 14 week old “lethal white” Australian shepherds. Their Mom is a blue merle aussie and she was apparently bred to another blue merle aussie. We agreed to take her from the shelter not realizing she was pregnant. It was quickly apparent that she was late term so we let her have the puppies. The result is that two of the nine puppies are obviously what is frequently called lethal white with significant vision and hearing deficits. Jeremiah and Jasper are very social, very friendly puppies. They are partially to totally deaf and they seem to have limited vision. These boys need a special home. I see this and I think… “i could offer them a home”…they look adorable to me. How do you train dogs like this to be even just be house broken? Take them outside and after they pee you just give them tons of affection?? Hope they don’t do it again in the house? How is their sense of smell? What sort of medical care will they require in their lifetime?

We have an 8 year old Lethal White Border Collie. We have had him since he was a pup. He has limited vision and is deaf and he is the nicest, gentlest dog we have ever had. Joey has been trained with hand signals and the help of our two older dogs. Joey has a great sense of humour and is very affectionate with the kids (who are always in his face). He sometimes gets startled when he doesn’t see you coming but he never responds with any agression. We are very luck to have such a great dog. I would adopt another lethal in a heat beat.

I adopted Colby, he is 9 week old Lethal white Aussie. He is the best puppy I have ever had! He does mouth more than normal, I think but he has to explore his world around him. He has learned his way to the front door to go out to potty but does have an occasional accident. He loves to play with our 1/2 lb chiweenie puppy and our 60lb Springer Spaniel mix. I would have a whole house full of Lethal whites any day!
