Ridiculous cuteness: Carmen, the aussie mix puppy

Carmen is fluffy with no tail

Meet Carmen, a 12 week old aussie mix. She’s chunky at just shy of 20 pounds and we have no idea what she’s mixed with, but Mom was an aussie. Carmen is cute, sweet and fluffy, but with no tail.  She is adoptable now. Email elizabeth@bigfluffdogs.com if interested or post a comment.

Ridiculous cuteness: Conner, the aussie mix puppy

Conner is 12 weeks of puppy cuteness

Conner is one of seven Aussie mix pups in rescue with Big Fluffy Dog Rescue. He does well with everyone and everything. He weighs in at 20 pounds and is a happy sassy boy. If you are interested in adopting Conner, you can email elizabeth@bigfluffydogs.com or leave a comment here.

Effie the beagle/Great Pyrenees is in need of a retirement home

Effie misses her Dad

Effie is a 7 year old beagle/Great Pyrenees mix. She is looking for a home in the Nashville, Tennessee, area. Effie’s owner died six weeks ago and she has been in a temporary place, but it’s not home. Effie is stressed and would do best as an only dog as she has never been with a lot of dogs and she is frightened of those bigger than her and not sure how to behave with other dogs. She is a spry little thing and she does love to go for romps in a fenced yard or for walks. Effie is not that large at around 60 pounds and she’s on the chunky side. This would make an outstanding dog for someone who wants a constant companion. If you are interested in Effie, please email jean@bigfluffydogs.com.

Effie loves to play and romp in a fenced yard

Roxy the Shiba Inu/Great Pyrenees is looking for a home

Roxy is a happy, friendly dog

Meet Roxy, a 3 year old Great Pyrenees/Shiba Inu mix. That’s one you won’t see every day. Roxy is a very fluffy and chunky 55 pounds. She is currently clipped and blowing coat for the summer, but make no mistake, this is a fluffy dog in every sense of the word. Roxy is great with kids, cats and dogs and she has the happy disposition of the Shiba Inu with the more laid-back energy level of the Great Pyrenees. While we would not have thought of this combo, this is a nice mix.

Roxy's ears actually are up when not being stalked by the camera.

Lola needs a foster or forever home in New England

Lola is an awesome little girl

Lola is a 7 month old border collie mix. She has some Pyrenees in her ancestry, but it’s at least two generations back. This little girl will never weigh more than 45 pounds and she is a bit of a waif. Lola is friendly, active and happy. She is good with everyone and everything. She is a quick study and such a lovebug. If you are interested, email elizabeth@bigfluffydogs.com.

Milo the Anatolian Shepherd is looking for his forever home

Milo is 130 pounds of big beautiful dog

Meet Milo. This is a 3 year old Anatolian Shepherd. Closely related to Great Pyreness, the Anatolian Shepherd is a big, watchful guardian of home and flock and he is a devoted and occasionally silly pet. This boy needs a fenced yard and someone who will take him for long hikes and then hang our watching baseball with him. Milo is generally good with other dogs and cats, but he is probably happiest where he can be an only dog or have a female dog as a companion. Something about being the biggest dog on the block makes boy dogs want to try to measure up.  This is the perfect dog for someone who wants a companion that is big, protective and devoted. This dog is in New England and available now. If you are interested in Milo, please email elizabeth@bigfluffydogs.com.

Milo loves to go for walks

Esme and Emma are looking for a TN foster home

Esme is 7 pounds of cuteness

Emme is just as cute!

Meet Esme and Emme, two 8 week old sisters who are ridiculously cute. These two girls came from Georgia and are tornado survivors. Trouble seems to have followed them as their foster home was damaged early this morning by a falling tree in yet another storm. These girls are looking for a short term 1 week foster in the Nashville area as they are booked for transport north on June 3. We think they are aussie beagle mixes.  If you are interested in fostering these two girls, email jean@bigfluffydogs.com.

Toby is looking for a foster home in New England

Toby is a happy, playful dog

Toby is a sweet, happy 2 year old golden retriever/Great Pyrenees. He is good with dogs, kids and cats. He is very playful and has more of the golden temperament so potential homes need to know this is a jogging companion, not a couch potato at this stage of his life. Toby is eager to please and very smart. If you are interested in fostering Toby, please email elizabeth@bigfluffydogs.com.

George needs a very special foster or forever home in New England

George smiles a lot

This boy is a very special case. We have had him in boarding for two months now while we wait for the right home for him and the right home has not come. George is not good with cats and he is mouthy which rules him out around small kids. This dog needs lots of exercise and he needs a good bit of discipline. He is very sweet and eager to please, he just needs the right home without kids or cats to show up. He is generally good with non-domoinant dogs who like to play and romp. George is a Samoyed mix and he is getting very depressed. This is what we consider an emergency as this dog is not handling kennel life at all. If you can help, please email jean@bigfluffydogs.com.

Jackson the lab Great Pyrenees mix is still looking for his forever home

Jackson is still looking for a home

Meet Jackson. This happy, friendly guy is still looking for his forever home. We can’t believe that he has not found his home yet as we have had him since January. This guy is a sturdy 70 pounds, but he is housebroken, great with other animals and kids and he loves to play. If you are interested in adopting Jackson, please email liz@bigfluffydogs.com.

McTavish the schnoodle needs a foster or forever home

McTavish is an honorary big fluffy

McTavish is a 5 year old schnoodle who is an honorary big fluffy dog. He is looking for his forever home or a foster home in the New England area. He is very well-behaved and at 10-15 pounds (we’re bad judges of weight for tiny dogs), he’s a lap dog looking for a home. If you’re interested in this guy, email jean@bigfluffydogs.com for more information.

Andre the Great Pyrenees needs help

Andre is recovering from eye surgery

We took in a senior Great Pyrenees named Andre recently. To say that he was a trainwreck is an understatement. He arrived emaciated weighing only 55 pounds, he was covered in hundreds of ticks and matted beyond measure. His body condition is still poor and we have only now got him up to 69 pounds when these pictures were taken. Andre also has a bad skin infection and we had to do surgery to correct an entropian eye that had become badly infected. He has been treated for tick paralysis and is on the mend.

This is Andre after he gained 15 pounds

Andre is on his way to being a healthy, happy dog and for the first time in his life, he’s enjoying the creature comforts of air conditioning, sleeping on the couch and endless food. Andre has racked up around $800 in bills and he is just one in a long series of high special needs dogs we’ve taken in.

We are fundraising to defray some of his costs to try to keep Big Fluffy Dog Rescue solvent enough to keep helping these special needs dogs. If you would like to donate, you can do so here: http://www.bigfluffydogs.com/pay-online.php and just click on the donate button. For those that prefer to donate directly to the vet, you can do so by calling Vet Med at 615-553-4156. Just tell them it’s for Big Fluffy Dog Rescue. Thanks as always from the big fluffies of the world.

Joey the golden mix is still looking for his forever home

Joey is still looking for his forever home

We can’t believe it, but Joey has been in foster with us since February and still has not found his forever home. This boy is good with people, kids, dogs and cats. He needs a home with a wood fence or a home that goes for long jogs or walks as he can easily scale a chain link fence, but he is otherwise a really good boy. If you are interested in adopting Joey, email elizabeth@bigfluffydogs.com for details.

Tornado dogs need a foster home in New England

Cane the retriever is looking for his home

Cane is also looking for a foster home. He is good with other dogs and cats and kids. He is a curly coated retriever mix that weighs about 45 pounds. He is an outstanding little guy and very sweet.

Kalista and Katelynn the newfie/pyr girls need a foster home in New England

Katelynn needs a home

Kalista needs a home

Katelynn and Kalista are two very sweet, 8 month old Great Pyrenees/Newfoundland puppies in need of a New England foster home.  These girls are big now, but will get larger. They do well with other dogs and are on the shy side. They are wonderful dogs and are both looking for forever homes, too. If you are interested, please email elizabeth@bigfluffydogs.com.

Vinnie is looking for a New England foster home

Vinnie is extra fluffy

Meet Vinnie. This sweet little guy weighs in around 40 pounds and is mega fluffy. We think he is a herding dog mix, possibly aussie or border collie or sheltie. He knows several commands and does well with everyone and everything. This is an awesome dog.

Blue the pit bull needs some honorary big fluffy help

Blue is covered in fungal sores and has a huge fungal tumor

Meet Blue. Blue survived the Nashville floods of 2010. He spent three days in flood waters before he was rescued, and the water he was in was infected with all kinds of nasty things like e coli and fecal coliform among others. Blue has spent more than a year suffering the effects of the illness brought on by exposure to the toxic flood waters and his owner who is an elderly woman whose home was destroyed does not have the funds to treat him. That’s where we come in. Blue went to the vet today and had surgery to deal with the huge fungal mass on his shoulder. Tomorrow, he will be dipped to address the fungal lesions on his body. Even though this dog is far from our usual big fluffy, he needs our help.

If you can help, please donate to his chip in here: http://bigfluffydogs.chipin.com/blue-the-flood-victim-dog.  Alternately, you can call in to donate directly to the vet treating him if you prefer. His number is 615-553-4156. Just tell them this is for Big Fluffy Dog Rescue and Blue. Thanks as always from all the dogs.

Sarah needs a New England foster home

Sarah needs a foster home

Sarah is a sweet German shepherd mix and she needs a New England foster home. She is currently in boarding and she is growing sad. If you can foster this girl, email elizabeth@bigfluffydogs.com.

Meet Chani the adorable Wheaten terrier mix

Adorable, fluffy and cute

Meet Chani. She was alleged to be a Great Pyrenees mix, but we think at 37 pounds at 2 years old, she’s probably not a pyr mix. She is adorable and the best guess is she’s a wheaten terrier mix. Whatever she is, she’s adorable. She is ready for a home.

Daisy is ready for a home

Daisy is a happy girl

Daisy is a 16 month old lab mix. She and her four siblings were left abandoned on a foreclosed farm and were rescued by a small rescue in Tennessee. Daisy is friendly and sweet and eager to please. She is good with everyone and everything. She will make someone a fabulous pet.

Roxy needs a foster or forever home in the DE/MD area

This sweet girl is looking for her forever home

Meet Roxy. She is a young and very sweet female Great Pyrenees. She is extremely tall, but currently model thin at 67 pounds. Once fully mature and at full weight, this girl will be easily 100 pounds. She does very well with cats and dogs and people of all ages. She has excellent indoor manners and is a wonderful dog. If you are interested in being a foster home or a forever home, please contact jennifer@bigfluffydogs.com.

Kringle is ready for a home

Kringle is ready to find his forever home

Kringle is a seventeen month old Great Pyrenees/golden retriever. He is a big boy at 110 pounds and he is a happy active dog. He is fine with dogs (so long as they don’t try to dominate him), cats and kids. This is a really nice dog and he is adoptable now. He is currently in Tennessee and is slated to head to New England the first weekend of May.

Our first storm victim Ike needs a foster home

Ike needs a home

Ike is a nine year old male fluffy shepherd/? cross. Ike was rescued from the rubble of his shelter which collapsed on top of him. Ike is a sweet boy and he is obviously quite traumatized by the events of last week. Ike has lost his family and his home and he is a very confused dog. If you would like to take on this sweet dog as a foster dog, let us know. He is currently in Tennessee.
