Brutus needs a foster home in New England
Brutus is an adult male Saint Bernard/boxer mix who needs a foster home. He’s been in boarding for 2 weeks and we don’t know why he has not yet found his home. Brutus gets along well with others, is great with kids and is an all around awesome dog. He’s not huge at roughly 70 pounds and he does not drool as a bonus. If you can foster this guy, please email lizb@bigfluffydogs.com. He is getting depressed in boarding watching all his friends go home while he never leaves.
Not big, sort of fluffy: Barney, the honorary big fluffy dog
Shih tzu or teacup panda? Hard to be sure, but he’s young, cute and adoptable. He loves kids, dogs and cats. If you are interested, email elizabeth@bigfluffydogs.com .
In Memoriam: Harry, our sweet beloved Great Pyrenees
It is with incredible sadness that I pass along the news of Harry’s unexpected death. Harry passed away quietly in the night in the home of his foster Mom. We are obviously shocked to lose him as we did not suspect for a moment that he would not make it through this. We do not know the cause, but we suspect he had heartworm disease which coupled with the starvation was too much for him to overcome. Harry was a sweet soul and he was patient and stoic as we tried to make him feel better. Yesterday, he leaned on me, resting his head while I petted him, looking up at me with bottomless brown eyes. I am angered beyond words at the condition his owners left him in and it breaks my heart that the only true kindness he knew came at the very end of his life. Some may say we should draw comfort in the fact that he was with us at the end. I confess I am not a good enough human being to find comfort in that at this moment and I long to see the person who left him in this condition suffer as he suffered. My faith in our collective worth is rock-bottom low today. Good night, Sweet Prince. We will miss you.
Honorary fluffies: Pippa and Layla the black labs are looking for a home
Meet Layla the Mom and her daughter Pippa. We don’t usually rescue black labs, but these two are special. These are the nicest, sweetest, most laid-back dogs and they were about to die solely because they are black dogs. It is a sad truth that black dogs are the last to be rescued and their time was up. Mom Layla is around 4 years old and a solid black lab. Daughter Pippa is around 2 and she is a lab mix with spotted black and white feet. These dogs are very well-mannered and get along well with kids, cats and dogs. They are in New England and need a forever home, but they would start with a foster home to get them out of boarding. If you are interested in these two, please email lizb@bigfluffydogs.com.
Dallas the border collie/Great Pyrenees is ready for his home

Meet Dallas. Dallas is a 3-year-old male border collie/Great Pyrenees who came to us after a neighbor intervened to save his life. Dallas spent his entire life chained to a dog house until he was rescued. This sweet boy loves people, other dogs and pretty much everyone and everything. He is rapidly learning how to be a good inside boy and that counters are not places he should look for food. Dallas has been shaved down for the summer, but he will be mega-fluffy once it grows back in. He is not massive at 70 pounds. This is a playful, happy dog. He is available in New England.
[caption id="attachment_725"The sad side of rescue: Lincoln, the basset lab puppy
Lincoln came to us a smiling, bouncy puppy with one significant health issue: Lincoln had a cleft palate. Lincoln went in for surgery this morning to repair the cleft palate and we anticipated a full recovery. Sadly, Lincoln did not survive the surgery and we lost this happy little guy this afternoon quite unexpectedly. We are devastated by his loss. There is nothing we can do to replace this special little guy and there are no words that will lessen the sting. Every dog is special to us and we mourn the passing of each and every one. We ask everyone today to go home and give their dog a hug in honor of Lincoln. He would have appreciated the gesture, especially if you give your dog a biscuit, too.
Some honorary fluffies are in big danger in Franklin TN
Meet Max and Zack. These 11-year-old brothers were surrendered by their owners to a shelter because they were old and they no longer wanted them. Their time is almost up and no one has shown any interest in adopting these two dogs. They are good boys and deserved a better end than at the end of a needle in a loud, scary shelter. If you can help these boys find a home, please email Karen at kmenzyk@yahoo.com. She is working to save their lives.
Denver the senior Dudley lab needs a foster home in New England ASAP
Denver is an owner surrender 7 year old male yellow Dudley lab. Denver has had kind of a rough time lately. He was mistreated by a young child in his previous home and he is now anxious and sad. Denver needs a New England foster home to help him get settled again. Denver takes medications for a thyroid condition, but he is otherwise in good condition. He does well with other dogs and cats. He needs a foster by Saturday or else he will end up in boarding for now which we think will scare him. If you can help, please email liz@bigfluffydogs.com.
