Ella is having ACL surgery on Friday
Due to a truly awesome Big Fluffy Volunteer (more about her later) we are really close to having the funds to pay for Ella’s surgery on Friday.
Ella was adopted, injured and then returned last September. Since then she has been taken care of by her foster here in CT. We need to raise $600 in 3 days to be able to pay her bill.
You can donate via our Chip-in

Luna the Great Dane mix needs a foster home
Meet Luna, a not quite 3 year old female Great Dane mix. Luna is an amazing dog and would already have found her forever home but for one small thing: Luna has a mild case of heartworms. Ordinarily, this would not be a big deal and we would have treated her and sent her on her merry way long ago. However, the idiots, crooks, unfeeling pharmaceutical companies company that manufacturers the medicine approved to treat heartworms managed to get shut down by the FDA and now no one can treat a dog quickly anymore. This means dogs can’t go to homes and they languish in kennels. This is not a good thing.
Luna is a very good girl, she is very healthy and she needs a foster home. She is wonderful with children and she is good with other dogs that don’t try to boss her around. She is being treated with an antibiotic and she gets a pill a day. That’s it. This disease is not contagious in the classic sense and if your dogs are on Heartgard, they are not at risk of getting the disease. She is getting sad because she has no home and it will be a while before she does. If you are interested in fostering or fostering to adopt this dog, please email jean@bigfluffydogs.com. We supply the medicines and you supply the love.
Ella the Great Dane – injured and returned
Ella is a 3-year-old Great Dane mix. She was adopted out from us in 2010. Recently, her adopter began hemming and hawing about needing to return her. At the end, she called us and said she thought Ella had injured herself and she needed to return her. We got her back. On return, we called the previous owner’s vet and learned that they had seen Ella and wanted to do more including just a basic x-ray, but the owner would not allow it and did not want to pay. Instead, they sent her back to rescue for us to handle. We are not happy.
And so we have. Ella has a badly torn ACL and needs medical care. The estimate of repair is $2100 and we need help. If you would like to donate to her care, you can do so here: http://www.bigfluffydogs.com/pay-online.php. (If you use a credit card – be sure to type Ella into the company name so we know what it’s for and if Paypal, include her name in the message field). We are sad that she was left in pain without proper care, but there’s next to no point in complaining – we just need to fix her. Spread the word and thanks as always.

Duke needs a foster home in New England
Meet Duke. Duke is a not quite one-year old blue merle male Great Dane. He is a big, goofy, bouncy sweetheart of a giant puppy. Duke has been fine with small dogs and dogs in general. We are not sure about cats. Duke is housebroken, walks tolerably well on a leash and knows his basic commands already. He needs a home who can manage a giant dog who wants to lean on you and who still hopes he might fit on your lap. He gives excellent puppy kisses to people he likes, which is pretty much everyone. If you can help foster this guy, please email Liz at liz@bigfluffydogs.com.
