Needy Fluffies
On a relatively regular basis, we get dogs in to rescue with significant health issues that require extensive care. As with all non-profits that rescue animals in need, we operate on a razor-thin margin and we need all the help we can get. A dog with an orthopedic issue can run $3000 and a dog with a serious illness requiring hospitalization can quickly cost $4000 and up. We have started the Needy Fluffies project to highlight these special needs dogs to fund raise for their care. We promise NOT to make you listen to that Sarah MacLachlan song (warning: you click at your own peril) while you view pictures of terrified dogs. We DO promise that every dollar you donate will ensure that dog is cared for. We know that everyone that donates to us does so out of love for the dogs. However, each sponsor will not only get our undying love and devotion, but also an actual paw print of the dog they helped (if the dog will cooperate) and a secret gift from us. In the old days, that would have been brownies, but we found that people were unwilling to eat things that arrived in the mail from total strangers. Instead, you could receive anything from a rocking Big Fluffy Dog t-shirt, to cool stickers, posters and a host of completely awesome dog stuff.
For those interested in the fine print: we will NOT sell your information to anyone, we are a 501c3 and your gifts are tax-deductible. Thanks as always from the folks at Big Fluffy Dog Rescue.
How is Molly, the pup with rickets, doing. I have a foster pup who has bowed front legs, too. He is beagle mx. His two sisters seem ok. How fast does it get worse? I’m going to get him to vet as soon as I’m given voucher to do so. Is there a brand of puppy food that your vet suggested. I’m feeding pedigree puppy. I rescued them from breeder who was giving them away free. They were filthy and very skinny. They also have mange, our vet calls it puppy mange. He can still play but does most of it laying down. He is 3 months old. I’m worried he may have to be put down. Our group has never had a pup with legs bowed like his.

She is completely healed and long in her forever home. Your pup can recover too. Good nutrition is the key along with time. The demodectic mange you are describing can be treated very successfully. We suggest weekly Dectomax injections. Good luck!
